BGU: Art History of Italian Early Renaissance

Students will explore the art produced in Italy during the period of 1400-1500. Through the study of fifteenth-century Italian art, students will gain a deeper understanding of the period's major themes, techniques, forms, and expressive content. Week 1: Sculpting Marble and Bronze Lorenzo Ghiberti, Brunelleschi, and Donatello Week 2: Design in Perspective and Narrative Masaccio, Uccello, Piero della Francesca, and Mantegna Week 3: Sacred Geometry and Color Don Lorenzo Monaco, Fra Angelico, and Fra Filippo Lippi Week 4: Optics in Nature and Light Carpaccio, Jacopo Bellini, Giovanni Bellini, and Antonello da Messina Lecture series: $100
