War and Peace in the Middle East

Once again, war has erupted in the Middle East, and the focus is on the perennial conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. What are the causes of this conflict? Why would Hamas perpetrate such a senseless act of violence? How will Israel respond? Is peace possible? Dr. Lester Pittman did his doctoral research on Palestine from 1917 to 1948. While conducting his research in Jerusalem, he visited Gaza and the Al-Ahli Hospital, which was severely damaged in the war in Gaza. He will attempt to explain what is going on and answer your questions in a presentation on Wednesday, November 15, at 3 PM in Blackmer Hall.
