ALL RESIDENTS PLEASE JOIN US  FOR A Special Meeting of the Residents’ Association following the June Residents’ Update on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 10am in Blackmer Hall.

This important meeting is called to consider an amendment to the Residents’ Association Constitution. To conduct business, it is required that at least 50 members attend. PLEASE ATTEND. Please scroll down to see the proposed amendment. Thank you. Sarah Tipton President/CEO   Notice of a meeting of the Residents’ Association Date: June 19, 2024 following the Residents’ Update Purpose: To consider an amendment to the constitution The current provision in the constitution needs to be clarified to allow members of the Residents’ Council to be considered as candidates for the position of Vice President/President Elect. The intent of the current provision was to encourage turnover on the Council. The unintended consequence was none of the council members could be considered by the Nominating Committee since their two year term was up and they could not serve again until a year had passed. That one year wait was to allow for new faces on the council, but not to eliminate Council members as potential candidates for the Vice President/President Elect position. The Nominating Committee meets over the summer to develop a slate of candidates and the pool of candidates for the Vice President/President Elect needs to include all Independent Living residents. When approved, this amendment will accomplish that goal. The proposed Amendment replacing the current Article IV section 6: Members of the Residents’ Council who have served a two year term or have filled an unexpired term for a period longer than six months may be candidates for the position of Vice President/President Elect but will not be eligible to serve on the Residents’ Council again until one year after completion of such service.
