"Florencia en el Amazonas" is an opera composed by the Mexican composer Daniel Catán. The opera is set in the lush Amazon rainforest and follows the journey of Florencia Grimaldi, a famous opera singer, as she embarks on a voyage down the Amazon River in search of a lost love. Along the way, she encounters a diverse cast of characters, including a ship captain, a journalist, and a couple on their honeymoon. As the characters navigate the physical and emotional challenges of their journey, themes of love, longing, and transformation emerge. The opera is known for its lush and evocative score, which blends elements of magical realism with traditional operatic styles.

Panisse leaves that to Fanny, the lad’s mother… This is the third of three classic French movies by Marcel Pagnol, known as the Marseilles Trilogy. Subtitles, of course!
